Sirona Cares for Schools Program

Restaurants and other businesses in the Bay Area now have an opportunity, at no cost to them, to improve the environment and support children simply by redirecting their used cooking oil to be recycled locally into clean burning bio-diesel.

Right now, your restaurant should have a company that picks up your used cooking oil and other grease. You may be paying for this service, much like you pay for trash service, or you may be taking a free service from our operating company (Blue Sky Bio-Fuels), the City of San Francisco's SFgreasecycle program or one of the many local small collectors in the Bay Area. By law, everyone needs to properly dispose of their used cooking oil, and collectors of oil are subject to state licensing requirements.

Most of the oil collected goes to the animal feed market; the oil that you throw out as unfit for consumption, is processed and fed to animals and ultimately consumed by us. Across the industry, less than 10% of used cooking oil is processed into bio-diesel. Simply by changing how you dispose of your used cooking oil, you can make a significant change in our community.

By recycling your used cooking oil under the Sirona Cares for Schools program, you:
